First time stay very impressed hotel excellent spotless staff very friendly and welcoming room was clean and comfortable only one thing that was awkward disable parking as we are new to this horrible thing after working 40 years straight called disability due to illness wife suffers severe osteoporosis can drop her at reception and go on to car park adjacent but as I have problems walking far due to shortness of breath due to two episodes of sepsis and damage to kidneys and lungs heart we never ever thought about disability throughout our active working life that it could happen to us and the problem it has caused us when travelling and especially parking if you drive its a bit of a walk from car park to hotel reception especially when you walk route and get to back door reception entrance and sign saying sorry this door is not working and have to walk all the way back and I mean all the way back especially with flight of stairs this to me was serious especially if you are more disabled than I am ie in a wheelchair it would of been hell. At front of hotel there are 7 car spaces but only 3 for disabled I think all seven should be for disabled parking and healthy people should be doing the car park walk.

The staff were friendly and extremely helpful disabled parking easy to access and free and the staff assigned a room that was relatively close to everything which was kind and again helpful - the room large and equipped the bed extremely comfortable and the pillows too were really good. Lovely sleep. The seats were comfortable too so did not have to sit in bed watching TV able to sit and then go to bed as would at home. Tea and coffee facilities were good. Our tv wasn't working initially the staff member I went to get was really helpful finding a solution for us even though was not normally her job to do so. We were very grateful. The food from the bar was delicious and brought in a timely way. Everyone was helpful and courteous. Our trip to London was a bit of a disaster for other reasons and this booking was a last minute one but very glad we tried it as will make sure if needed we will use this hotel again.

I had a problem with check-in as I didn't know beforehand that I would need ID. I have stayed at the hotel several times before and never had a problem I am also a member of the bon voyage club. I was attending a wedding reception and only brought a tiny clutch bag so just brought my credit card. The card was not the card I had used to make the booking so staff said it was not acceptable. I had paid in full on booking. It was embarrassing - I said 'what do you want me to do?' I just stood there with my credit card which had my name on. I said 'this is me I am the person who booked it and I have paid. What is the problem?' Another staff member had overheard all this and said - 'book her in' and said to me 'don't worry about it '. I felt vulnerable and embarrassed .

Staff were brilliant, especially Anna (restaurant) for sorting a complimentary breakfast as we had no housekeeping which meant no replenishment of tea/coffee in the room, as well as not having the bedding changed. It wasn't a massive issue but if we'd have known we could have asked for housekeeping instead of returning to our room and finding it as we left it! That aside, this hotel was superb and I'd highly recommend it.
